Hello Everyone!
What a wild several weeks it has been. This month has been pretty normal and quiet. We have had a beautiful summer flush of growth due to all the rain we had through August still. It got a little dry before all the hurricane storm came through and the front before that but we are definitely not dry now. We hope all of you are well after recent events. Ararat Farm weathered the storm pretty well thankfully. We had a lot of downed trees and some fences down and loss of power for a few days. Otherwise we were fine. Well lets get to an update now!
The Herd
The herd is grazing nicely through all of the bottom fields still. With the rain that we have had and the warm weather through September the fields have all regrown within 3 weeks. So, it has made for some extra grazing. They are looking nice and plump!
The Last Calf of the Year
We finally had the last calf of the year this month. A spunky little heifer ready to play.
The Pigs
The piggies are all doing well. They have been eating very little feed because we are starting to get into acorn season. They are still short but getting to be very plump little porkers! They are getting to be well trained and come when you call. They have loved the piggy spas and of course all the canning scraps!
Canning Season
The garden is small but producing enough to do some canning. In between all the crazy we have managed to get some tomatoes canned and some last years pumpkin(that was frozen) to make way for this years pumpkin. The Lord provides all we need!
Weathering the Storm
There has been so much shared on social media and news about the devastation from Hurricane Helene and now there is another one about to hit. We were affected along with others but not as bad and like everyone else spent time to recover. But, even in destruction pain and suffering there is still hope. This event didn’t take God by surprise and like all things it still brings Him glory even if we don’t see how or why. We thank the Lord for the lives that He protected and pray for those lost and ask for His wisdom, guidance and strength to build and recover. Just like He has this little butterfly, who is beaten and torn, He carries us through the rough days too!
