Hello Everyone!
It’s been awhile since we have put out a newsletter/blog. We have had a busy fall season with some new upgrades and just the normal business of the fall season. We will try to go back to October for you on this update and give you the update for October.
October was actually a very dry and pretty month for the farm. It was a busy month with wrapping up Fall beef orders amongst the hurricane Helen clean up. We did manage to squeeze in a quick vacation in before the craziness of prepping for our annual farm day for church family and friends. Let’s get started with the details.
Summary for October:
-
The Herd enjoying the last grazing of summer
-
Piggies Acorn season!
-
Even farmers need a vacation…
-
Farm Day

The Herd
The cows were very spoiled this October. With the rains that we had through the summer and the warmer temps in the earlier part of October we were blessed with a decent grass growth that enabled us to rotate the cows through the month of October. This of course made them nice and fat going into winter and simply spoiled them.

The Pigs
The piggies thoroughly enjoyed their October which is acorn season. Pigs love acorns and we love when they get to feast on acorns. Acorns have the ability to make pork have a nutty flavor which is why as a general rule our Winter pork is preferred by our customers. They are were still kind of small through October but were definitely plump pigs!

Rest Time
After a very long busy summer and before the crazy fall really came in we did take a week vacation to rest and recharge. Farm planning is still a never ending cycle that doesn’t ever stop but it was a blessing to be away for a bit so we can come back to serve you better!

Farm Day
Toward the end of October we hosted our annual farm day event for our church family and friends. There is so much planning and prep that goes into this day and we enjoy seeing everyone when they come. The weather made for a challenging day. All month we had no rain until that one day. Everyone enjoyed themselves in spite of it!

That’s a Wrap
Well, that brings you up to date on everything that happened in the month of October. It was a full month as always but always a blessing to see the Lord’s faithfulness on the farm each day. We thank you for visiting and hope to see you on the next blog post. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
