April 2026

April 2026

Hello Everyone,

Another day and another month of 2026 has blown by!  It has been a busy month with Matt working long hours with the local spring forestry season and the farm in full spring season.  We have done some big moves with animals this month and added a few animals on the farm too.  Spring beef orders opened this month as well and we sold out with in days which was a huge blessing.  The Lord continues to be so gracious each day as we just take one day at a time.

Summary for April:

  • Rotational Grazing
  • Happiest of Piggies
  • Chicks in the Brooder
  • Little Farm Hand

The Herd

The herd is the happiest and most spoiled right now.  They are enjoying daily rotations of fresh spring grasses and a salad bar of foraging!  This time of year we are thankful to have a good growth of grass but we are trying to move the herd quickly through the fields to prevent over grazing due to the low rains we have had this spring.  If we are able to leave paddocks less grazed the grass will recover easier.

The Piggies

The piggies are so excited with their lives right now.  This month they moved up to the pig field and out of the barn.  They come running when we call and are very vocal about getting their piggy spas!  Each batch of pigs like some things better then other and these pigs love their spas.

The Chickens

The beginning of this month we got our broiler chicks in and they have been in the brooder for almost a full 3 weeks.  They are doing well and roughly a week from graduating to the chicken tractors on pasture.  We are looking forward to offering all the chicken cut ups again this year!

Little Farm Hand

Little Farm Hand is about a month away from turning 7!  It has been so fun as she continues to grow and learn her place in the farm business.  She has found ways to help with the chores or take them over completely!  She has been a great farm hand this spring!

That's All Folks

Well, that gives you the most condensed update we possibly can.  Spring season has so much happening at the same time that it keeps us on our toes and can make for a long blog post.  Thank you for taking time to visit with us today and we hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!  See you all next time.
